Svyturys Ekstra - Lithuania

Svyturys Ekstra

Svyturys Ekstra is an uncomplicated unpasteurised draught beer from Lithuania. It's not as tasty as I was expecting but nevertheless makes it to 6 in our rating. Svyturys is quite a heavy beer although it isn't very strong or overpowering in flavour.

As far as most Eastern European beers go Svyturys is rather bland and uninviting compared to its Polish compatriots. Svyturys is certainly not my favourite Baltic beverage. Although, ten years ago Švyturio Ekstra beer received the Silver award in the Dortmunder/European Export category at the World Beer Cup, while it went on to win the Gold medal in the Dortmunder beer category at the World Beer Championship (USA) in 2001.

St. Peter's Organic Ale - England

St Peter's Organic Ale
The first
beer to be featured on BeerTastingEvents is St Peter's Organic Ale made by the St Peter's brewery from Suffolk in the UK. The brewery claims all its ales are 'real ales'. I can't disagree after my first tipple. It leaves a traditional ales flavour in your mouth for at least one minute after consumption. This is a good sign. St Peter's Organic Ale is a clean, crisp, lightly carbonated traditional English ale with a full 'citrus hop' aftertaste. The alcohol content is a quite common 4.5 %. As an organic ale it certainly tastes wholesome and quelches your thirst.

St Peter's Brewery produces two award-winning organic ales - Organic Best Bitter (4.1% abv) and Organic Ale (4.5% abv). The two beers are made using Soil Association accredited malted barley and organically-grown hops.

Organic Ale won the Soil Asociation's top award in 2002. Packed in cases of 12's, the beers are packed in St Peter's unique, beautiful oval bottles.

St. Peter’s Brewery, based on the Norfolk / Suffolk borders near Bungay, was recognised by a Queen’s Award for Enterprise in the International Trade category in the 2006. This was primarily due to its success in exporting to international markets. BeerTastingEvents rates this beer very strongly with a 8.5/10.
